Our Story

Wine, bikes and backyard innovation

Our founders Dan and Andrew started the Stoked story back in 2010. Working in the stainless steel fabrication sector, servicing the growing Central Otago wine industry, the boys began designing the ‘perfect stainless spa’.

After some long discussions over a few wines, and kilometres of mountain bike rides, their competitive streak finally pushed them towards their goal and designs were honed into something resembling the iconic tubs you see today.

Taking shape

They quickly discovered that there wasn’t anything else like it in the world.

Using offcuts from the steel tanks they were producing in their day jobs, two prototype tubs were built to test the comfort and size, and soon, friends and family were asking when they could buy their own tub.

Those first two prototypes are still very much in service today (Andrew still has a copy of the first cheque for the sale of Tub#1).

An idea becomes reality

So, in 2012 Stoked was registered as a company and things truly began to move forward.

The final design was agreed and customers were finding their way to Dan and Andrew’s door wanting to own a piece of this iconic New Zealand story. Now things were starting to get serious and there was a feeling that “hey, we might really be on to something here”.

Time to leave the wine industry behind and build for success.

Growing up

By 2016, Stoked was flat out and it was time to shift gears. The old workshop in Andrew’s garden was starting to get a little cramped and the expanding team needed a new place to call home.

Planning for a new purpose-built factory in Wānaka was the next milestone. A clear statement of confidence from a brand, setting a new standard for durability, aesthetics and customer service.

Driven by passion

With showrooms and a growing team across New Zealand and Australia, Stoked is proud to offer an unrivalled selection of stainless steel pools, spas, hot tubs and baths.

Still steered by the founders who created the very first Stoked, the business may have grown, but the thinking remains remarkably simple: make beautiful things exceptionally well, look after the people who choose them, and never stop finding ways to make the experience better.

From a New Zealand original to a growing Australasian brand, Stoked continues to do things its own way. Designed here, made to last, and always unmistakably Stoked.
